How Others Feel with Rory

Rory learns to read faces and guess how a friend is feeling, then finds a kind way to help.

What they say in this video

Hi friends, it's Rory! This is my friend. Today we're learning to notice how someone else feels, and how to help. Can you wave hello to my friend too?

Look at my friend's face. A little tear, and no smile. I don't need words to know my friend feels sad. Can you make a sad face, just like that?

So I open my arms and offer a gentle hug, not too tight. Sometimes a hug says more than talking. Open your arms wide and give a gentle pretend hug.

Look, my friend is smiling again! When you notice a feeling and care, it really helps. Show me your biggest smile. What makes your face smile like that?

I share my favorite toy too. Being kind can be a hug, a smile, or a share. What toy could you share with a friend to cheer them up?

Empathy means feeling what a friend feels. Read the face, then be kind. Put your hand on your heart, it's a big caring heart. Can you say the word empathy?

See you next time, kind friend! Today, look at one person's face and guess how they feel. Then ask them, and see if you guessed right. Deep breath, then a gentle roar!

The whole script, in the order it is spoken.
