Waiting and Patience with Pokey

Hi friends, it's Pokey. Last time we learned how to feel calm. Today we'll learn about patience, which means waiting calmly for good things. Is something hard for you to wait for?

I planted this tiny seed in the soil. Now comes the tricky part, waiting for it to grow. Seeds never hurry. What do you think a seed needs to grow?

While I wait, I watch the clouds drift slowly by. Waiting feels easier when we stay calm. Look up and trace a pretend cloud with your finger. What shape could it be?

My friend is on the swing right now. I wait beside it, happy and calm, because their turn came first. Waiting your turn is fair, isn't it?

Look, a little green sprout! When I feel wiggly while waiting, I count slowly to ten. Count along, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Staying calm while we wait makes the surprise even sweeter. A slow breath helps, and so does counting. What will you do the next time you have to wait?
